Grand Opening: Westland Thrift Store

Grand Opening

We are excited to open doors for our Westland Thrift Store. Everyone should feel good about visiting because whether you’re shopping or donating goods, you’re serving those in need.

For the first time in over 30 years, the social services organization’s thrift enterprise has returned to Metro Detroit. The new store commemorated the occasion with a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting early in the morning prior to them opening for business for the first time. The store is located in the former Toys R Us location at 34800 Warren Road in Westland, in the Westland Crossing shopping center.

Customers will have access to 25,000 square feet of shopping for clothing, linens, pots and pans, bedding, household goods, furniture and more. Most importantly: one hundred percent of the proceeds from the store will go to support programs for homeless veterans, poor seniors, and struggling families in Michigan.

The location will allow for donation drop-offs, and will even offer pickup in the surrounding area. To schedule a pickup, call 866-333-8281.

The Volunteers of America Thrift brand is well known in the mid-Michigan area with four stores already, and their “Take Half-Off Tuesday” sale that is held the last Tuesday of each month. The new Westland store will hold their first Take Half-Off Tuesday sale in November.

“We are excited to open doors for our Westland Thrift Store. Everyone should feel good about visiting because whether you’re shopping or donating goods, you’re serving those in need. We hope to see everyone on Grand Opening weekend!” said Alex Brodrick, President & CEO of Volunteers of America Michigan.
