Veteran to veteran
Peter's story

Your name: Peter Green Jr.

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Service Coordinator for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.

What brought you to this position? As a veteran myself, (United States Marines) I wanted the opportunity to help fellow veterans. I have now been with Volunteers of America Michigan for three years.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? Being able to see the enjoyment and happiness when a homeless veteran is able to secure housing.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? With our veteran population, it is often difficult to find our clients suitable housing within their budget. That is why my biggest takeaway from my job personally, is getting to see them secure safe, affordable housing, sometimes for the first time ever.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Arizona.

What is your favorite book? The USMC Rifle Marksmanship Data Book.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I spend the majority of my time outside of work being with fellow veterans at the VFW, and enjoying a round of golf.
