Morgan's story

Your name: Morgan Caudill

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Training & Enrichment Specialist. I help our participants find jobs after finishing healthcare training.

What brought you to this position? I have never worked in a healthcare field before so working with a new population right after graduating college was very exciting for me.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? Sometimes people just need a cheerleader, someone who truly believes they are capable of whatever they want to achieve. I’ve noticed that sometimes just telling someone “I know you can do this” can change their entire outlook on life.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? Coming to terms with the fact that there is no one easy solution for everyone. As badly as I want to wiggle my nose and fix the world for everyone, it takes a lot more work than that!

Where is your dream vacation spot? Chicago has been my favorite place lately, I’m a city person. But with this cold weather lately, I do wish I was on a warm beach in like Hawaii or something!

What is your favorite book? Anything by Oscar Wilde. I recently got a copy of “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and that has always been one of my favorite reads. “The Soul of Man Under Socialism” is also a great Wilde piece.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I recently bought a Nintendo Switch so lately I’ve been playing a lot of Pokemon. I could play for hours while cuddling with my dog and listening to music.
