Your name: Misty Lynn Hayes

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: I am the Store Manager for our Thrift Store in Burton, Michigan.

What brought you to this position? I had previously worked in thrift and it came naturally to me, so when I saw the position available I applied. I was excited to work for an organization like Volunteres of America Michigan. I know that my work matters and what I do here directly affects the homeless veterans, seniors, and families that we serve on a daily basis.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? Building a team that wants to do great things for the store and the mission.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? Finding talent that would like to work hard and put their 100% in daily.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Hawaii for a real luau. OR, I have always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise.

What is your favorite book? I don’t enjoy reading.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I like to go on mini vacations regularly, ride my Harley, and spend time with my family. My child is in marching band so we have competitions every weekend right now.
