Your name: Margo Collins

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Service Coordinator at Buena Vista Senior Community and McDonald Senior Apartments.

What brought you to this position? I was seeking a new opportunity in which I could further utilize my skills in helping others. This was my first time exclusively working with the senior population, which continues to be both rewarding and challenging.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? I am very passionate about the work I do and the population I serve. I can say my biggest takeaway from this job is the satisfaction in knowing that our residents benefit from the services I provide.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? My biggest challenge has always been feeling that my best is not good enough, that there is always more I could have done in any given situation.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Jamaica! I love to sit on the white sandy beaches, watching the breathtaking views of the ocean, just enjoying the tropical paradise.

What is your favorite book? “I Am: The Power of Discovering Who You Really Are” by Howard Falco.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I have a niece and two nephews, ages 13, 9. 4. I try to spend quality time with them and help instill positive values. I have an enormous collection of basketball cards that I have continued to collect for many years. I still collect cards and go to card shows.
