Your name: Krista Vergos

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Assistant Manager for our thrift store in Corunna, Michigan.

What brought you to this position? I was taking a break from retail and had no plans to come back to work. After meeting with our Director of Thrift, Shannon, I couldn’t say no. I have been here over eight years now, and still love being here. I get to come to work knowing that what we do every single day helps so many people in Michigan. What more could you ask for?

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? Having all the support from the community to make our store a huge success. We are so very grateful to have customers from all over Michigan that travel to our store…meeting them and getting to know them makes what I do every day is so very worth it.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? My biggest challenge is keeping up with the growth of our store and staying one step ahead as much as possible.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Anywhere there is a beach. : )

What is your favorite book? I don’t really have a favorite.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? Vacationing with family as much as possible. In the summer, my family loves to be outside, near the water.
