Hannah's story

Your name: Hannah Patton

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Service Coordinator for Supportive Services for Veteran Families.

What brought you to this position? When I was graduating from Central Michigan University a few years ago, this was the only job I applied for. I have since worked in multiple programs and roles.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? My biggest takeaway is being able to help veterans get into housing or help them keep the housing that they have. It brings a peace of mind to veterans knowing that they will be taken care of.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? In the rare situations that I may not be able to help someone because they do not qualify for services. Fortunately, there are so many resources available for veterans in our communities that there is a “no wrong door” policy.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Lisbon, Portugal.

What is your favorite book? “Catcher in the Rye” by J. D. Salinger.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? Hanging out with my family, going to concerts, and doing yoga.
