Danilo's story

Your name: Danilo Tuazon Jr.

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Assistant Program Manager for Supportive Services for Veteran Families in Detroit.

What brought you to this position? I had been working with the developmentally disabled and homeless population for almost a decade and wanted to expand my experience to serve veterans. I saw an opportunity open up with Volunteers of America Michigan, and since I was already familiar with the organization from being in the same service circles, I knew I would be doing fulfilling work.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? I have a few takeaways from this job. Everything works out in it’s own time, so I should never try to rush things. I enjoy establishing new relationships with people that serve the veteran population. We all work together towards the same goal.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? My biggest challenge would be not letting my own weaknesses, insecurities, or doubt keep me from giving our veterans the best care possible.

Where is your dream vacation spot? Thailand.

What is your favorite book? “The Firm” by John Grisham.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I spend my free time with my family, golfing, building my Lego collection, and Wicked Jeep events.

I enjoy establishing new relationships with people that serve the veteran population. We all work together towards the same goal.
