Your name: Brandon Frierson

Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Senior Service Coordinator for the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.

What brought you to this position? My initial journey with Volunteers of America began in 2016 with the Northern Rockies affiliate in the state of Wyoming. I worked in their veteran services programs. When I decided to return to Michigan, I jumped at the opportunity to remain a part of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program with the Michigan affiliate.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? Seeing the veterans we serve accept and excel in the services we provide.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? My biggest challenge is wanting to have a 100% success rate with the veterans/families I work with. I am constantly wrestling with the fact that is is not always possible.

Where is your dream vacation spot? The island of Crete, in Greece.

What is your favorite book? “Rise and Grind: Outperform, Outwork, and Outhustle Your Way to a More Successful and Rewarding Life” by Daniel Paisner and Daymond John.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? I love being active with my children and joining in on their activities/events. I also love to travel and enjoy reading.
