Your role at Volunteers of America Michigan: Community Administrator at Liberty Commons Apartments and Townhomes

What brought you to this position? Over 10 years ago I started working at Liberty Commons as a part time grounds technician. I have moved up from Grounds Technician to Maintenance Technician, Office/Leasing Agent, and now currently serve as the Community Administrator.

What is your biggest takeaway from working with Volunteers of America Michigan? One of my favorite things is getting to see an applicant’s face when they get approved for an apartment and the face of their children. I also really love knowing that by listening to someone, I can help them. Each holiday season I spend days cooking and preparing a full holiday dinner for our residents to enjoy at our Christmas party. We have built such a wonderful community here, and this is something that myself, and each resident looks forward to.

What is your biggest challenge in this position? My biggest challenge is not being able to help more residents/applicants.

Where is your dream vacation spot? I am not sure. I haven’t really taken a vacation, but it would have to be somewhere with plenty of adventure. I love water and keeping busy with lots of activities.

How do you spend your time outside of the office? My family and my grandchildren.
